Regulated Rate Option (RRO)

If you have not entered into an energy contract, you are on the Regulated Rate Option (RRO).

The RRO may increase or decrease from month to month as it is priced on the open market and subject to many factors relating to supply and demand. It is not a ‘regulated’ rate; rather it is a default rate. The RRO is established based on inclusion of the 100% spot market price, a further risk margin adjustment inclusive of the purchase price of power, and other adjustments reflecting the prudent owner’s costs incurred by the Coop to provide the RRO rate. Battle River Wires Division administers the member RRO service on behalf of Battle River Power Coop .

The billing rate as calculated under the price cap regulation and charged to members is calculated by taking the monthly rate and subtracting the reimbursement rate. The reimbursement rate is the difference between the reference rate and the price cap.

November 2019 RRO Rate

The Battle River Power Coop monthly rate as calculated under the RRO regulation is $0.06856 per kWh. The reference rate in November 2019 is $0.08853 per kWh, which was more than the price cap of $0.06800 cents per kWh and more than the monthly rate calculated by Battle River Power Coop. Accordingly, the billing rate as calculated under the price cap regulation and charged to members is $0.06856 per kWh.
