Battle River Power Coop is a Rural Electrification Association that operates under cooperative principles. The Coop provides electrical distribution for farms, rural businesses, industry, and recreation/residential development. As an electric utility cooperative, the Coop offers several advantages that are unique to the coop business model.
Our rural Alberta service area stretches from the Town of Bruderheim in the north to the Village of Alix in the south, and east from the Town of Wainwright to the Village of Thorsby in the west, spanning 13 Alberta Municipal Districts and Counties. We have been providing safe, reliable electricity distribution to rural Alberta for 75 years and serve 8,700-plus members.
We employ 60 qualified people who contribute to the cost-effective, reliable and safe energy delivery through services including power restoration, new construction, vegetation management, loans, electrician services, and utility billing.

Vegetation Planner
Battle River Power Coop is a cooperative electric utility in Central Alberta supplying electricity to about 8,700 rural members. We have a staff of about 62 employees engaged in all aspects of power distribution from installation to maintenance to billing, all administered from the same office near Camrose, Alberta.
General Summary
Patrolling power lines for vegetation clearance deficiencies and planning cost-effective treatments to manage vegetation.
Communicate work plans and obtain consent from Utility Customers for vegetation maintenance operations, including mechanical and herbicide applications.
May at times assist with the Trim Crew on vegetation maintenance operations.
Qualifications
- Must have clear, concise and professional communication with people, both orally & in writing
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy is required
- Good judgement and problem-solving skills
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Must have team experience; developed ability to communicate with members of a team and to be able to easily comprehend and follow instructions
- Must work well with others
- Previous experience in the Vegetation Industry would be considered an asset
- ISA Certification would be an asset
Hours of Operation
Hours of operation are generally 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, four days a week.
