Tim Coates
Board Member - Leduc
Tim Coates was born and raised in the County of Leduc on the family farm his grandfather settled in 1902. Tim has extensive experience in the education profession. After graduating from the University of Alberta in 1980 he taught for a number of years in Kitscoty and Devon.
In the 1990s, Tim moved to a position with Alberta Education in the Diploma Examinations Sector. Tim left the ministry in 2015 and now works as both an education consultant and a sessional lecturer at the University of Alberta.
Tim and his wife, Val, have been married for over 35 years and have three children; Matthew and Graeme are engineers and Heather is entering her second year of veterinary medicine at the University of Calgary. Tim and Val are currently building their retirement home on the family farm southwest of Leduc. In their spare time, they enjoy back country hiking and camping.
