Battle River Power Coop recognizes that the provision of electricity is an essential service for Albertans. We continue to provide full electricity delivery services while taking all possible precautions to protect our cooperative members, our staff and families during COVID-19.

The Alberta Government, on its website and in daily updates, reminds Albertans to take steps to protect yourself and others. Physical distancing is at the top of the list, and after careful consideration, Battle River Power Coop reached the decision to close its office to the public. The office will re-open when it is deemed in the best public interest to do so. Members wishing to contact Battle River Power Coop staff should phone 1.877.428.3972 or email

The Annual General Meeting (AGM), at this time, remains scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2020. The Board of Directors and Management will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will abide by any directives that are applicable, or subject to change, and will review the situation at the Board meeting in mid-May. As a cooperative, we recognize the AGM is an important event for both the Coop and our members and we will work diligently, and within pandemic prevention guidelines, to proceed with it. We encourage members to mark the date on their calendars and reserve tickets by calling the office at 1.877.428.3972.

Members who are considering an application for Battle River Power Coop sponsorship for the Alberta Community and Co-operative Association (ACCA) Youth Leadership Program may do so until May 8. The ACCA is planning to proceed with the Leadership Program, stating on their website: “The health of our youth, the volunteer staff, and their families is paramount. For the time being, the program will take place as planned until the situation suggests otherwise. We will continue to strictly abide by government public health directives and will keep you informed of future developments.”

At the office and in the field, Battle River Power Coop staff continues to work within safety protocols that involve physical separation, increased cleaning and disinfecting and working from home as tasks permit. Staff who feel ill are required to stay home. We encourage members to take similar precautions as you are able, and to consult for the most recent and trustworthy information.

Stay well.
