The Board of Directors of Battle River Power Coop plays an important role in ensuring the success of the Cooperative. Directors, as tasked under the Rural Utilities Act, provide the general direction and supervision of the affairs and business of the association. Directors serve and protect the Coop through sound governance and financial oversight. They attend Board meetings and on occasion are requested to attend outside meetings or conventions with relevance to the electrical industry. They represent Battle River Power Coop before government agencies, industry stakeholders and other REAs.

One of the privileges of cooperative membership is the right to seek nomination to the Board. The nomination process is straight forward, and the Director’s Nomination Package (available from the office) gives clear and uncomplicated guidance to prospective nominees. Positions on the Board are for three year terms, with elections held on a rotating basis to ensure continuity. This year five positions are up for nomination.

While all Directors work for the best interests of the whole organization, it is beneficial to the Coop to have representatives that live and work in the various service/REA areas in which we operate. To that end, this year nominees from the Calmar area the Hardisty area and Bashaw/Ponoka areas would be particularly welcome.

Another privilege of cooperative membership is the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). All Battle River Power Coop members are welcome to attend the AGM and are encouraged to reserve banquet tickets in advance. A call to the office at 1.877.428.3972 will ensure that there are tickets waiting for you at the door on June 21 at the Norsemen Inn, Camrose.
